Bio
My name is Ryan Zhou and I am a full-stack software engineer and finance geek with a strong passion to solve problems with technology. I grew up in China and Singapore and now I’m based in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2013, I co-founded CoinJar to shape the future of finance and investing. Today, CoinJar is one of the world’s longest-running cryptocurrency exchanges with over 700,000 users in Australia and the UK. At CoinJar, my time is split between building core backend technologies hands-on and refining the product vision. I was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in 2018.
Having graduated from the University of Melbourne, I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. I also obtained my CFA® charter in 2017.
When I’m not working on hard problems, I’m a travel enthusiast with a seven-figure frequent flyer points balance. I’ve been to at least 104 cities around the world and travelled more than 649,621 kms since I could count.
